The Houston Bar Association Auxiliary’s mission is to assist the Houston Bar Association, the Houston Young Lawyers Association, and the State Bar of Texas, to promote a better understanding and relationship between the general public and the legal profession through community service projects and to encourage social relations among its members.
One of the main tenants of our organization is to raise funds to provide scholarships for local law students. Each year, our Charitable Fund strives to raise enough funds to award three (3) $5000.00 scholarships to one (1) student at each of the three (3) local Law Schools in Houston. (Houston College of Law, University of Houston, and Thurgood Marshall School of Law). Last year we were able to accomplish awarding these three scholarships by raising an additional $21,000.00 as a result of our fundraising events, including our Chili and Pie Cook Off.
This year we are holding the event once again at the Bayou City Event Center Pavilion near NRG Stadium on February 16th, 2019 from 5:00 ‐ 9:00 p.m. We are hoping to double last year’s attendance. We have again partnered with the Houston Young Lawyer’s Association (2,250 members) and the HBA (12,000 members) for increased involvement and attendance. This paired with member distributions will reach over 45,000 impressions even before the event starts.
